Feel like the ranch-owner with no set riding hours to limit your exploration of the beautiful countryside encompassed in the 150,000 acres of High Island Ranch.
If you arrive as a Dude, you'll definitely leave as a Cowboy after a week of Unlimited Riding. Choose your mount, or let the Trail Boss guide you to the horse that matches your riding skills. For both new and experienced riders, High Island offers the freedom of choosing the amount and style of riding suited to your experience and fitness.
Be as adventurous as you like...
Spend your day on horseback, or experience ranch life from the wrap-around porch of the lodge at the Rock Creek camp (9000 feet). Relax in the rustic, homey atmosphere of the common room enhanced with Western memorabilia, trophy mounts, log furniture and horse blanket rugs. In the evenings, exchange stories of your day's adventure and enjoy the camaraderie of campfire songfests. At day's end, choose to sleep under the stars, in a tent, or in a log bed in the comfortable rooms in the high mountains.
Explore a Natural Paradise
Whether out for a day's ride, fishing Rock Creek, photo safari, or just relaxing at the lodge, High Island Ranch offers an excellent opportunity to experience Wyoming, a paradise filled with wildflowers and wildlife as varied as that of any state in the nation. Nearby, find the ancient petroglyphs chipped into rock cliffs eons ago. Search for arrowheads and chippers... remnants of the great Plains Indians who ruled Wyoming for centuries. Take off on a pack trip like the infamous mountain men of years past and savior meals cooked on an open campfire after a day traveling through the unparalleled beauty that is part of America's vanishing wilderness. Ride to the Needles, a 12,800-foot peak that dominates the landscape, and experience the elation of a Wyoming view from an unbelievable vantage point. The 9000 - foot high camp at High Island also offers five miles of excellent trout fishing some of it right out the front door of the lodge... in the cool, rushing waters of pristine Rock Creek.
Escape to the Old West
Sign on as a "cowhand" on an High Island Ranch 1800's Cattle Drive and leave the 20th Century behind. Spend the week enjoying the "Old West" as you ride the range as cowboys have done for more than a century. Work as much or as little as you like while bringing the cattle on a 40-mile drive to their seasonal grazing grounds. Ride "drag" or beside the herd, enjoy hearty meals served out of an authentic chuck wagon and learn first-hand the lore of the West. Although it's definitely a rustic setting, the High Island Ranch Cattle Drive offers the unbeatable luxury of spectacular vistas, great food, friendly people and adventure!

Riding, exploring, even just relaxing and enjoying the fresh mountain air builds ravenous appetites and guests can look forward to three hardy home-cooked meals a day with unlimited refreshments available. Freshly baked goods complement all meals which are served family-style in the Main Lodge, or on picnic tables overlooking the outdoor fireplace & Rock Creek. Breakfast cookouts, fish fries, western bar-b-ques, and picnicking along the trail are among favorite summer pastimes.
Come and Live the Legend
Be a cowboy for the week... ride the range, round up strays, fix fences, brand calves, check the cattle and move them to fresh pastures. The cowhands at High Island Ranch invite you to join them in doing all the daily chores of the classic American cowboy on an authentic working cattle ranch. It's the life that legends are made of!
