Leave the 20th Century behind as you ride the range to bring cattle to their seasonal grazing grounds as cowboys have done for centuries. Set in the unsurpassed natural beauty of Wyoming, High Island Ranch & Cattle Co. offers the unbeatable luxuries of spectacular vistas, great food, friendly people and high adventure.

* General Outline of the Week

SPRING

* Sunday, Day 1: Pick-up in Cody, a quick stop at a Western outfitting store for last-minute supplies and on to High Island's Lower Lodge for a delicious supper and Cattle Drive talk.

* Monday, Day 2: Basic orientation to horsemanship on AM ride to round up the cattle on the "Lower 40". After lunch the Cattle Drive to the high country begins crossing the prairie. First night camp is at Cottenwood Camp.

* Tuesday, Day 3: Early breakfast, pack up, push cattle to Middle Fork Corrals, the evening campsite. Enjoy a hearty meal cooked over an open fire & doze off to a coyote lullaby.

* Wednesday, Day 4: We arrive at our destination, amidst mountainside grazing pastures at High Island's Rock Creek Lodge (9000'). After a hot shower and a delicious meal you'll share the warmth and camaraderie of the campfire.

* Thursday, Day 5: Guests choose between day rides; to 75' waterfall; the Holy City; Washakie Needles (12,800'); scouting deer & elk; fishing; hiking; all activities in spectacular scenery for photo taking; or choose to relax on the creekside log swings.

* Friday, Day 6: A trail side lunch while we horseback ride off the mountain. Return to lower lodge in time to freshen up for a Western B-B-Q

* Saturday, Day 7: Back to Cody , the 20th century and home.

FALL

* Sunday, Day 1: Pick-up in Cody, a quick stop at a Western outfitting store for last-minute supplies and on to High Island's Rock Creek Lodge (9000') in time for supper.

* Monday, Day 2: Basic orientation to horsemanship. Guests choose between day rides, to 75' waterfall, the Holy City, Washakie Needles (12,800'), gathering cows; scouting deer & elk; fishing; hiking; all activities in spectacular scenery for photo taking; or choose to relax on the creekside log swings.

* Tuesday, Day 3: Choice of day rides through spectacular High Country; gathering cows, photo safaris, hiking or fishing.

* Wednesday, Day 4: Early breakfast, break camp & push cattle down to Middle Fork Corrals, the evening campsite. Enjoy supper cooked over an open fire, informative talk on Elk & fall asleep under starry skies

* Thursday, Day 5: Early breakfast, pack up, push cattle to Cottenwood Camp, the evening campsite. Another delicious supper, a blazing campfire and doze off to a coyote lullaby.

* Friday, Day 6: Still pushing cattle we'll lunch on the trail & reach winter pastures early P.M. Time for Hot Showers & a Western B-B-Q.

* Saturday, Day 7: Back to Cody, the 20th Century and home.

* At High Island Ranch...

* Staff: As you pass through the ranch gates, you'll know you're among friends. The staff at High Island love their work and way of life. Proud of their ranching heritage they share their enthusiasm with each guest.

* Meals: The whiff of fresh-brewed coffee, bacon, eggs and hot-cakes lifts you out of your bedroll each morning . On the trail meals are prepared over a campfire. Tasty, well-balanced Western fare includes beef, chicken, unlimited fresh fruit, salads, fresh baked breads and desserts, and a finale B-B-Q.

* Sleeping: Bunkhouses, tents, lodge at lower ranch; 4-wall tents, lodge and cabin at Rock Creek. (Showers & Outhouses only) Sleeping under the starlit skies is always an option each night of your stay.

* Weather: The air is crystal clear and sweet-smelling from the pine and sage brush. Sunny days with an occasional brief shower. Temperatures in the 70's and 80's. Nights are cool.

* Horses: A variety of horses available at the ranch will suit every level of riding ability. Our wranglers will help you choose your mount, assist with the saddling and adjustments daily, and offer informal instruction.

* Most Of All, leave the cares and concerns of the world out of your luggage and bring your good humor and enthusiasm for a week of new adventures, great food and lasting friendships formed through the shared experiences at our working cattle ranch.
